We spent the weekend in the woods, we three: hiking and laughing, exploring and chatting, playing and listening.
That's Miss M on the other side of the bridge.
That's a tall tree. Miss M's current proud feat is in walking backwards while looking up through the trees and she made mention of it several times to make sure we noticed her marvelous talent. We joined her in walking backwards, of course.
Which trail mark should we follow this time? Red prevailed.
We measured.....
We looked up close.....
We looked over.....
We looked under.....
We looked high.....
We looked low.....
We even looked in the water.
I mentioned that Garlic Mustard was an invasive weed and we should pull it out if we found it. Right, no bit of Garlic Mustard was safe around these two. They ripped it out with vengence, threw it in the middle of the trail and stomped it to smithereens.
Yeah, and I'm insanely envious of kids boots. I have boots for mucking around too, but they aren't cool pink and they don't have eyes.
And then we were back home with a lovely view of our city from the top of the hill. We were wet, dirty, exhausted and happy. No, it could not have been any better.
To Alex -
To Alex...who is far away in person, but never far from my heart. I miss you. Enjoy these snippets of everyday family life here in the states.
